Hostile Vehicle Mitigation
About the Project
RAC Arena Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) was a Venueswest project undertaken to
enhance public safety and strengthen security measures at one of Perth’s premier entertainment and sporting venues. The project focused on protecting pedestrians, patrons, and surrounding public areas from potential vehicle-related threats while maintaining the accessibility and visual appeal of the venue.
The scope of works included the supply and installation of engineered hostile vehicle mitigation systems designed to meet relevant security and impact-resistance standards. These measures were strategically positioned around key access points, pedestrian zones, and high-traffic perimeter areas to provide robust protection without compromising crowd flow or emergency access requirements.
MG Group implemented a combination of fixed and integrated security elements, carefully coordinated with existing infrastructure and architectural features. The design prioritised seamless integration into the urban environment, ensuring that safety enhancements complemented the venue’s aesthetics while preserving functionality for large-scale events.
Works were delivered within a live operational environment, requiring careful staging, stakeholder coordination, and adherence to strict safety and scheduling requirements to minimise disruption to arena operations and surrounding precinct activities.
