About this Project

This project included construction of concrete access stairs to Cottesloe beach, limestone walls, asphalt, footpaths, handrails, and turf. An encroaching and variable attacking waterfront was the main obstacle of this project. This was overcome with the construction of an ocean defence wall with integrated dewatering.

The project involved the demolition of an existing drainage system, retaining walls, pavements, amphitheatre and associated surrounds, the bulk excavation of the dunes, installation of new drainage, supply and installation of Geosynthetic Sand Containers as bank stabilisation, installation of new retaining structure, pavements and landscaping. Traffic management to facilitate the works was an important part of the site setup and success of the project. The Council also requested the works were staged to allow the Sculptures By The Sea event to take place with maximum car parking availability.
